Nick Arocho is a passionate and versatile drummer living in Los Angeles, CA. As a DCI World Champion, WGI World Champion, graduate of Arizona State University with a B.M. in Jazz Performance, and a sought after professional freelance artist/clinician in eleven countries from three continents, Nick is an active player in today's music industry.

He began his musical studies at Thunderbird High School (Phoenix, AZ) where he refined his drum set skills (under the private instruction of jazz great Dom Moio) and performing experience with the Young Sounds of Arizona, a handpicked jazz ensemble made up of Arizona’s best young jazz musicians between the ages of 14-18. During his two years performing with the Young Sounds directed by Barb Catlin, Nick shared the stage with Wayne Bergeron, Tony Malaby, Rebeca Mauleon, and Orestes Vilato. Arocho also gained his first professional recording experience with the Young Sounds in 2006 at Tempest Studios with recording giant Clarke Rigsby.

While still in high school, Arocho expanded his performance spectrum while touring/competing as a member of The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps (2007 - 2009). After graduatingArocho was invited back to Thunderbird HS as a staff member to instruct for the school’s prestigious music program.

In 2010, Nick was selected to join the elite program of the 15-time World Champion Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps (Concord, CA), where he was dubbed an undefeated DCI World Champion under the instruction of Scott Johnson. In his first year as a Blue Devil, Arocho was awarded “Percussion Rookie of the Year”, and “Visual Rookie of the Year”. He aged out with the Blue Devils in 2011, where he collected a DCI silver medal and another year of the world’s finest instruction. Nick then marched his final eligible season with the 2012 Riverside Community College Indoor Drumline, where he earned another World Championship at WGI Finals. After aging out of the marching activity, Arocho was hired as an instructor for the Arizona State University Sun Devil Marching Band drumline for two years during their fall and winter seasons.

Nick has served as a musical ambassador of the United States on multiple occasions. In 2010 he was one of four Americans selected to travel to Basel, Switzerland to perform with Top Secret Drum Corps for two weeks throughout Europe. Later in 2013, he appeared on the elite cast of The Blue Devils All-Star Drumline. The group educated students of all ages and performed live in Lithuania, and Taiwan. In addition, he was flown to South Korea to perform in the Sacheon International Percussion Festival.

Now with a music degree and a résumé packed with performance experience, Arocho plans to apply his education and experience towards creating a career in the music industry. Currently, he lives in Sherman Oaks, CA where he works as a freelance/studio musician, music educator, and web designer. Nick is also a staff member with the Blue Devils' "System Blue" Education Team.
